Did you know that in the French Decree 2017-238, article L2133-12 of the French code of public health requires any photographs being used in advertisements to contain the expression “retouched photograph?” if you didn’t well now you do. Anyway back to the new Photoshop law, those who fail to comply will pay a fine worth 30% of the total advertising expenses. Even though it was publicized in 2016, the law only became valid recently. Nevertheless, France is not the only country to deal with appearance and model issues, Israel too has been rocking the same boat since 2012 and Australia has been on a similar path since 2014.

However, Brazil seems to have taken the stand pretty earlier because the subject was already causing discomfort among top personalities in the advertising and fashion sectors and we even have a bill which provides guidelines regarding photo shopped images.
